Using the iDashboards® Software

The application integrates with the iDashboards® application, a 3rd-party software product. The iDashboards software gives you a way to produce charts that provide ways to visualize your application-generated data.

You can combine individual charts into collections referred to as "dashboards." iDashboards contains a library of approximately 65+ preset charts and/or existing dashboards to businesses who purchase the Analytics option. The current library is installed with iDashboards when your application is initially installed or adding Analytics and may be updated upon request. iDashboards is not a product of ECI Software Solutions, Inc.

Accessing the Analytics iDashboard

User permissions are not used for determining access to Analytics. Instead, the application user name for the current session is compared to the Analytics database. When you click the Analytics menu option on the toolbar, if the application finds a corresponding (matching) user account, the iDashboard window opens; otherwise, the message "Not a valid dashboard user" displays.

When Analytics is set up for your company, one admin user will be defined for your initial access. You can purchase extra User and Viewer licenses, but we don’t sell additional standalone Admin or Analyst licenses. A single Admin user can perform all admin- and analyst-related tasks required.

What iDashboards are available?

Analytics dashboards and their component charts are loaded on customer systems into a separate database. The following links to documents explain the various dashboards (collections of charts/graphs) that we offer. If you are unable to find a particular dashboard or notice differences, please create a support case so that we can update your database. Links to these documents are also available directly from the dashboards themselves via the "info" button.

Can I make my own graphs?

There are different types of licenses for the iDashboards software. Your admin license (included) allows the admin user to perform all functions including creating new charts and changing existing ones. The dashboard also includes our entire base library of approximately 65-charts and chart collections (dashboards). In addition, the most recent versions of existing charts, as well as any new one's, are available from the web site.

What if I need help or would like a custom chart?

We are looking to expand our library and the use of the Analytics feature. If you have ideas for charts or questions about Analytics, please contact support_spruce@ecisolutions.com. We can either provide some coaching so you can create the chart yourself or you can work with our Data staff to build the chart for you. Development fees may apply depending upon the time required for this support.

How do I access the iDashboards software?

Depending upon whether your company is cloud-hosted or on premise (on a local server), you can access iDashboards software in a few different ways:

As an admin, you can access the admin version by locating the ".Dashboard" folder on the server and choosing the iDashboards Admin shortcut. ECI can also designate a specific user as the administrator for access to the admin area directly from the application. When accessed outside our software, iDashboards runs in a web browser.

As a user, you can access iDashboard from the application at any time, after your system is configured for the iDashboards software.

From the toolbar, click the Analytics option.

User and Admin Licenses

One admin license is included with almost all contracts. This provides both administrator and user level access to the iDashboards software. Four (4) license categories are available: Administrator, Analyst, User, and Viewer. You can purchase additional licenses when you need them for an additional monthly support charge. Please contact the ECI Sales department for current pricing and support fees.

Administrator License

This license provides full access to iDashboard features including the ability to create and modify charts. You can also use this license to add users, modify application and database settings, and license management. An admin user can create other users who can access iDashboards from the software. To do this, the administrator adds the application user names (ID) and passwords to the iDashboards users list. We recommend that you add additional licenses if more than a few users plan on using iDashboards at the same time.

Analyst License

This license includes all "user" level license privileges (see below), but also allows the user to create charts using dynamic SQL queries to the database.

User License

This license allows the user to customize charts (right-click) and create dashboards in permitted categories. A "user" level license can also create new charts but this is limited to charts with a static data source (data that has been typed in or imported from a text file, not directly from the database).

Viewer License

This license allows the user to review dashboards in categories to which permissions are granted. There is no right-click customization available. This is the lowest level license available.
