Auto Bill of Materials

The Auto Bill of Materials (Auto BoM) feature is intended for simple manufacturing processes that don't require the added functionality and overhead associated with the full manufacturing features provide by the Spruceapplication. Auto BoM provides a way to streamline manufacturing for companies who manufacture products using a consistent and simple process that involves basic in/out materials and finished products.

Users must create a material list suitable for one-step processing, similar to manufacturing, which is converted into an item, and can then be added to a sales transaction as a single item.

The following restrictions apply to the Auto BoM feature:

When an Auto BoM item is returned, components will not be returned if the item is returned to stock. The on-hand quantity will increase for the Auto BoM parent SKU, crediting the sale and cost of sale for the Auto BoM item only. The same applies to Vendor returns.

Auto BoM items cannot be used in Direct Ship.

Transfers are not permitted at this time.

On-hand quantities of 0 are permitted. Material quantities are manually adjusted if the on-hand quantity is greater than 0. If the on-hand quantity falls below 0, a work order will be created for the item.

Setting up Auto Bill of Material (Auto BoM)

1.You must first create a new Material List. Navigate to Manufacturing > Database > Material Lists. The Material List will reflect all items required to create the manufactured product, pricing and other factors will be defined later on in Item Maintenance. Enter a "List Name", a description of the material list, and select "Auto". The "Auto" field is a mandatory selection in order to continue on with the Auto BoM feature. As a default, "Print Item Details on Work Orders" is selected. You may select or deselect any of the print options. In the Current Selection section, insert all required items to the Current Material List. You may delete or modify items by selecting the corresponding controls. Press F12 once all required items have been added to the list.
