Delivery > Utilities > GPS Tracking

You can use the GPS Truck Tracking utility (Delivery > Utilities > GPS Tracking) with the Delivery-Dispatch option and the Delivery Tracking feature in the Spruce AnyWare app to monitor the current location of a delivery-enabled device. You can also use these features to review the history of previous deliveries.

To make these features work, the delivery team uses the AnyWare app on a supported AndroidTM device and the dispatcher uses the Spruce Delivery-Dispatch option in the application. AnyWare is a separately licensed ECI Software Solutions, Inc. software product and any devices you purchase to support this app and any data plans required to run it are not included in the cost.

As the vehicle is out making a delivery run, the Delivery Tracking option in the AnyWare app can submit map coordinates back to the Spruce database. Once enabled by your delivery team, the application polls the device on a regular interval (the default is every 5 minutes) and records new GPS points as long as the device's location changes more than 60 ft. since the last polling. The application tracks and displays the total time and duration between coordinates.

Current Location - All Trucks. Select this option to display a list of current deliveries (manifests) for the current date (if any) and the current location of those trucks if a browser map is available.

Truck Run. Select this option and a specific Manifest, or Truck and Load ID to display history and additional delivery detail data. Manifest documents highlighted in blue text have map coordinates saved, others don't. AnyWare users must enable Delivery Tracking on their device for tracking to work. The Truck and Load ID lists allow dispatchers to select a truck and then a load ID for the current date. If no loads have been indicated for the current date and truck, no selection is provided.

Times between GPS points are highlighted in green when the wait time exceeds 5 minutes (or the default setting). The assumption is a that this likely represents a "stop" since most vehicles that haven't move 60 feet in a 5 minute period are probably making a delivery. Other points (under 5 minutes) are likely recorded as the delivery vehicle is traveling to a destination.
