Signatures

Signatures can be collected for and displayed or printed on a number of documents. To collect any signatures, your company must have one or more supported signature pad devices or be using one of our apps which are capable of collecting a signature made on a phone or tablet. All types of documents are capable of having signature data associated with them; however, not all document types will print or display a signature, and not all forms provide the ability to collect a signature during transaction processing. Signatures can be associated with many Point of Sale documents.

April 2018 - Card Signature Changes

All major card brands eliminated the signature requirement for chip card transactions effective in April 2018. For this reason, card devices may no longer prompt for signatures on chip enabled devices and chip cards.

Transactions that Allow Signatures

The following Point of Sale transactions allow signatures to be collected, but don't necessarily require or automatically request a signature:

Sales (Conditional)

Automatic, but only if remittance is indicated using either a credit card* or receivables charge.

Orders (Conditional)

Automatic, but only if a deposit is indicated using either a credit card* or receivables charge.

Payments (Conditional)

Automatic, but only if remittance is indicated using either a credit card* or receivables charge.

Signature collection is not offered for Quotes. Only "credit" transactions require a signature, debit and other methods (in-store gift) don't.

Any Process (F12) form that accepts remittance and displays a "signature" button can be used to associate a signature with the document even if credit card or receivables charge are not being used for payment.                

Even in cases where a signature is automatically requested, the cashier (sales clerk) can choose “no sign” for receivables signatures (from the application dialog, not the signature pad).
